Get your kitchen and pantry spring-ready with a good clutter-busting. Organizing your storage space once and for all will lead to fewer headaches down the road. Not only will you save time by reducing searching, you’ll save money by avoiding duplication. Ready? Here’s our 5-step action to getting it done this spring.

1. Get rid of things you don’t need
Dispose of food past its “best by” date. Donate non-perishables that haven’t expired but which you’re unlikely to ever eat, or bulk purchases that seemed like a good idea at the big-box store, but which your family won’t get to before the best-before dates. Donate small appliances and utensils you haven’t used in over 18 months, like that dust-collecting bread maker or olive pitter.

2. Dedicate space for your cooking equipment
In busy multi-person homes, it can be hard to keep track of where everything goes. Make the best use of your kitchen storage by deciding on the optimum way to store cooking pots and pans, tableware, bake ware, small countertop appliances and utensils. 3. Organize your dry goods
Once opened, dry goods do best in sealed containers, modular canisters and bins. Not only do they stay fresher, they take up less room.
