HomeFree series™ Closet Kits is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 120.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from It looks good in the display I bought this closet system because the Closetmaid brand pulls out of the wall so I gave it a try. Why would anyone design the main support bracket 6.5 feet long for an 8 foot shelf? There is too much overhang on the shelf causing it to bend. It cannot be centered on studs because of the precut holes. In order for an 8 foot shelf to fit correctly the hanging bracket must be 8.75 feet long top allow the precut holes to anchor properly into the studs. The bag that has the end caps has 100 to a bag. How many closets out there use 100 end caps? I needed 12 at the most. I would have wasted a whole bunch of end caps. It is obvious the person(s) who designed this did not put it together. The shelf can easily come out of its brackets. I solved this problem with cable ties to hold down the back of the shelf against the bracket. I was going to buy the assembly bag that can be bought separately. After discussing the project with the employee at the big box store, it was easier to by #8x2.5 wood screw for the entire project. I also noticed the wall anchors in the assembly kit were not the best suited for the brackets. I now have to go back to the big box store to purchase another hanging bracket for a project that should have taken one. The next time I will use the old fashion closet brackets and wood shelving.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs better instructions Installed a Linen Shelf Kit and would not recommend it. Flimsy, very poor instructions. You don't even include what size drill bit to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love my new closet I bought two of the 3-6' closet kits. My husband installed them with no issues. Then I went back and bought two shoe shelves, two canvas drawers, and two add on shelve kits. It all went together easily. Now I can rearrange as I want. I am very happy with my new closet. My husband was pleasantly surprised at how easy they installed (of course he is a carpenter by trade so....). The one complaint I do have is that you can't just buy accessories (shelves, drawers) without the additional uprights. As you can see, I have room to add something but I don't want to buy another kit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought 2 of the 4-8 foot kits and wanted to add more shelves. I didn't realize that you can't just buy extra pieces and the other systems are not compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a couple minor things.. I posted yesterday supporting these systems and still do support them - far more than any other system I've tried. But there are a couple VERY minor points to bring up. 1. The drywall anchors in these kits are terrible; very flexible & weak. I have used "E-Z anchor" brand products and they are great! the plastic ones work fine, BUT I just tried the Zinc Alloy ones this past weekend and they are even better. When you turn the screw in, the anchor points fold upwards 90 degrees, creating a rock solid grip on the drywall! 2. My local Lowe's carries nearly every accessory, EXCEPT the 25" extensions. PLEASE start having vendors carry these extensions. 3. I think Rubbermaid could create a corner shelf for the homefree series. People that have concerns about the mounting rails not being pre-drilled for 24' on center studs - remember that every builder is different and may not have built your walls to a perfect industry standard. I've had walls with studs that varied from 22.5" - 24 3/8" on center; Rubbermaid can't control this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suggestions/Questions Does Rubbermaid offer some sort of plywood or similar lightweight shelf liner? Also some sort of hardware for undershelf lighting such as the type you see lining the walkways of airplanes or in movie theaters? About the only complaint I hear from these systems is about clothes/fabrics placed directly onto the wire shelves because of the dents the wires create due to the weight of other items (for example, the bottom sweater in a stack of sweaters). Of course, I can poke around the hardware store and conjure something up myself, but it would be nice if this was an option to buy. Also, it would be nice if the closet had interior lighting. A track or whatever under the shelves to mount it would be great! P.S. - Those who complain about the installation instructions actually need to read them first! My honey is an engineer, which means he tried to install without reading them. Once he read them, the installation was fast and easy peasy. His main concern which the directions don't address involved ensuring the vertical things you put the shelving brackets brackets (not sure what you call those things) were in the studs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this system!!! It was easy to install and fun to configure to my needs...only bummer is Lowes did not sell any of the HomeFree Series parts by themselves. I was looking for a hanging rail and what I found did not work with this series. The slots were off so the shelves were uneven. They need parts/accessories available
