3–6 Ft. Configurations® Custom Closet Kit is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meets Minimum Requirements This closet system has a lot of great features. 1) it is pretty well designed for efficiency. I have only 2 closets in my small NY apartment, so I wanted something that would make every inch count 2) the initial kit has a decent range of configurations but it's main selling feature is 3) it's pretty cheap. The downside is 1)there's no way to buy extra shelves, rails, rods, hooks, or other parts separately so you can't actually customize the system for your individual needs. 2)the overall quality is pretty cheap e.g. the endcaps for the rods are barely functional cheap plastic that pop off the ends with barely any contact; the hooks the closet rods lock into are made of a hard plastic and don't feel sturdy (if you put a lot clothes on the rod it shifts around a lot!) I've had the rod slip off the hooks a few times because of a combo of the band endcaps and the wobbly hardware, sending all my clothes hangers to the floor!! Basically, I am using this system as a stop gap until I can afford to replace every last part with the Container Store's elfa system which is completely customizable and far higher quality. Rubbermaid should develop this line and encourage/make it easier to make a custom closet by having spare parts for sale, I would be happier with this product if it was an expandable system, but it is not. But if you need an inexpensive basic organizer for your kid's dorm it's probably fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but can't expand Bought this for daughter's off-campus room. Worked well for a small unique space to elevate items over a mini-fridge and a floor heat vent. However, as a poster already said, went to add two more 36" shelves and to our disappointment, not available at Home Depot or elsewhere. 2' and 4' shelves available but not 3'?? Now stuck trying to find other shelves to fit ($45 each) or suck it up for another $100 kit. Also, the wire on the shelves are a tad wide and slippery - good for clothes but not for mugs for example. A little more grip and closer together wires would increase versatility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Value for Price I bought this and had a carpenter install for me. It took him a little more than an hour and it holds all I had in the old white ventilated rod and shelf kit plus much more. The rod is amazing, so nice to have your clothes freely slide on it. The configuration options are many. I still have the entire top shelf available for holding containers, after putting all that was in the old closet configuration and space on the hanging rods as well. I will order more. Great product considering the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accomplished what I wanted My closet is 42 in wide and was always a mess, clothes cramped and wrinkled. Now it's well organized and more room. I'm going to do my other two closets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as versatile as it could be I really like this system, as it is a great product for its price point. I am very disappointed that 36"W shelves are not available separately (without being part of a kit), as this truly limits the versatility of the closet configuration. If not for this shortcoming, I would rate this a 4-star product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not exactly... It would be great if the photos showed what closets look like in normal homes. I feel like I wasted a fair amount of money and a whole day of effort (install was easy, I also painted the interior of the closet first), and even though I don't like the product, I can't exactly pack the thing back up again to return it! The top rail must be hung pretty close to the ceiling (86.5" from floor), which makes the vertical rails end 42" or so off the floor. You have to purchase extensions in order to hang shoe shelves, etc.. I want to hang upper & lower clothes rods, but the rod cups are pretty tall, taking up precious inches of vertical space, so I have the top rail quite high, and the lower rail at the lowest spot on the vertical rail, making the space below, for shoes, not really usable. Also, the top shelf above the upper rod is unusable since it has to be so close to the ceiling in order for me to have upper & lower rods. The other reason I would like the photos to depict real closets is the dead space I am left with at the right side of my closet. I didn't realize, until it was too late, that I would have a great big empty in the right corner of my closet. My closet door is situated at the far left of the whole closet, leaving about 24" of space beyond the opening to the right. Since you are instructed to build the thing from the side where there is the most access, I installed from left to right. My closet is just under 6' side to side. I have about 14" of space with no access, and nothing I can hang from the rails since the last 2 vertical rails are not 22" apart, as required by product add-on options. All in all, I am quite certain that I LOST usable closet space by installing this product. I may end up ripping it out & putting into my son's (much smaller) closet, but for now, I am stuck with this thing in my closet and I am disappointed, to say the least.
